Lloseta has always been the birthplace of fine cuisine linked to the Majorcan traditions. Over the past years the village has become a place of pilgrimage for haute cuisine lovers. This has been possible thanks to two hard working and well established restaurants: Restaurant Can Carrossa and Santi Taura and the recently added Restaurant Tomeu Lassio. All three have many elements in common but also differences in the interpretation of the traditional cuisine. First of all, the three chefs are well known for their signature cooking.

In addition they all take care of local product and seasonal cuisine. Among the three restaurants there is a close reationship sice Joan Arbines, the Chef at Ca’n Carrossa was was one of the masters that inspired Santi Taura. Nowadays, Taura is one of the trendiest chefs in the Island. To get a table at his restaurant is oddly a complicated task as there are long waiting list. Meanwhile Tomeu Lassio is the latest example of the traditional yet modern kitchen in Lloseta. This young man was trained under the command of Santi Taura and now he has founded his own restaurant.

At Lloseta we can also find bars and restaurants serving the simple and classical meals of the village such as the “variats”: Typical Mallorcan tapas mingling many elements. In any case, you can be sure that in Lloseta you will find a long list of establishments that offer a great variety of options for all tastes and budgets.

El Cardenal

El Cardenal

If there is a typical gastronomic product from Lloseta this is the «Cardenal» or «Cardinal», who has taken fame as excellent dessert on the island. The origin of how was created this sweet product is unclear. In fact the «Cardenal» comes from the «Forn de Baix», the oldest shop on this Village, which has been faithfully for over 60 years. Gabriel Pozo was the authorship of this traditional recipe although currently Pedro Coll has improved this dessert. The original recipe is secret and patented for the owner. The «Cardenal» is a cake formed by two elongated layers of sponge cake with a layer of meringe, cream and another sweet dough coverage. A real treat to be consumed cold due to its composition.
