Cardenal
If there is a gastronomic product characteristic of Lloseta this is the “cardenal” or “cardinal”, which has acquired fame as an excellent dessert throughout the island. The cardinal originates from the “Forn de Baix”, the oldest store in the village, which has been producing it faithfully for 60 years. The original recipe is secret and patented and belongs to Gabriel Pou, although Pedro Coll has given it a personal touch. The cardenal is an elongated cake made of two layers of sponge cake, meringue and cream. It is advisable to eat it cold because of its composition.
